Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Miami South Beach – Everglades N.P. – Key Largo Your eco-adventure begins at 10:00am from the departure hotel (see Tour Manifesto in left sidebar for details). We’ll get on the road en route to Everglades National Park for some hiking and alligator spotin’! (A portion of the tour cost will be donated to Everglades restoration.) Then jump aboard an airboat for an exhilarating ride through the swamplands. After spending the day exploring one of Florida’s most precious resources, we’ll hop on the Overseas Highway to Key Largo. Check in to your beachside hotel, and then enjoy a pina colada at the cabana as the sun sets.
Day 2: Key Largo – Snorkeling – Marathon Key This morning takes us to some of the best snorkeling in the continental United States. We visit John Pennekamp State Park for a few hours of underwater exploration, where you’ll get to experience tropical fish, beautiful coral, and maybe even a glimpse of the infamous Jesus statue! Our afternoon starts with a fresh and local fish sandwich overlooking a spectacular Keys’ view, and then fun in the sun at the beach.
Day 3: Marathon Key – Sailing – Key West This day takes us back into the water for sailing in pristine aquamarine waters. Learn how to tack and jib as you cruise along – have your cameras ready, as dolphins often enjoy swinging by to say hello! After lunch of, yet more, Florida seafood (or a burger, if you’d prefer), we explore Seven Mile Bridge taking a ride back in history as we follow the original railroad bridge that connected mainland Florida with all of its southernmost keys. A late afternoon arrival lands us in Key West – just in time for the famous Mallory Square Sunset Celebration!
Day 4: Key West A full day in Key West awaits you – explore the town by foot, bike, or moped, you’ll enjoy meandering through the Conch Republic’s quaint streets and storefronts. Your guide can arrange various activities for you throughout the day – deep-sea fishing, parasailing, a visit to Ernest Hemingway’s home, sunset sailing on a historical schooner, and a whole lot more. When you finally decide to call it a night, retreat back to your relaxing inn for a sound night”s sleep (within walking distance from all the main sights).
Day 5: Key West – Kayaking – Miami Bidding Key West farewell, we hop back on the Overseas Highway for a visit to Bahia Honda State Park – one of Florida’s most picturesque beaches and our destination for kayaking. Explore a small uninhabited island or peer up at the Bahia Honda Rail Bridge’s missing section – this is one of the best places to kayak in all of Florida! Landing back on the mainland late afternoon, an evening of dinner and dancing on South Beach awaits.
Day 6: Miami Our last day gets started with a final group breakfast. We then spend a half day exploring some of the outer reaches of Miami – luscious gardens, hip neighborhoods, and some Cuban flare in Little Havana. Your guide will either drop you off at Miami International Airport or assist in arranging a shuttle for a later departure.
